In a move that has left energy enthusiasts and skeptics alike in disbelief, Lone Star Solar Co. has unveiled its top-secret, game-changing solar tech: the world’s largest single solar panel!
Measuring a mind-blowing 400 feet long and 150 feet wide, this behemoth of green innovation will cover more ground than six football fields stacked side-by-side. Based in Houston, the company claims the panel’s power output will be “enough to charge every electric vehicle in Texas simultaneously while still having enough left over to power all the hot dog rollers in the Longhorns’ football stadium.” Once the four-month manufacturing and testing phase of the project was complete, the gargantuan photovoltaic module was airlifted into position 232 miles away by four Boeing CH-47 Chinook heavy-cargo helicopters, where it’s been breaking world energy-production records ever since.
Lone Star Solar Co. CEO Joshua “Sunnyside” Cohen declared at the groundbreaking ceremony:
“We’re not just harnessing the sun; we’re making it jealous.”

The panel, expected to generate a staggering 7,000 gigawatts per hour (more than five times Luxembourg’s annual energy consumption), has also been dubbed “a second moon” by astronomers concerned about its reflective glare.
Houstonians are thrilled to add one more creation to the list that confirms that everything is bigger in Texas!!!
Renewable News will follow any developments about the behemoth solar panel; stay tuned.
We hope you had as much fun reading that clickbait article as we did writing it, but for transparency, there’s no Renewable News, Lone Star Solar Co., and quite regrettably, no Joshua “Sunnyside” Cohen—as far we know. And, of course, the solar array featured in the salacious photo is not of one giant solar panel. There’s a fun story behind that photo, which inspired us to write this article in the first place!
The bird’s-eye perspective of the “giant solar panel” in the photo is from video footage our team collected of a commercial solar project we’d recently completed for Formosa Plastics, a plastics manufacturing plant in La Ward, TX. The team couldn’t help but notice how, from hundreds of feet up in the air, the commercial solar array looked like one giant solar panel—not hundreds of smaller commercial solar panels. Pretty neat, right?
While the installation cannot produce enough electrical output to charge every Tesla vehicle on Earth simultaneously, it is a substantial 797.040 kW system, which, if meant for residential purposes, could power around 100 homes yearly.
