At Sunshine Renewable Solutions, we provide fully managed decommissioning for solar and battery energy storage systems at the end of their operational life, typically after 30 to 35 years. Every project is completed in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and industry best practices.
Decommissioning begins with a review of site agreements, interconnection requirements, and local regulations, followed by the safe shutdown and removal of all system components. Solar modules, inverters, racking, and electrical infrastructure are dismantled and recycled whenever possible through certified Texas partners.
Battery system decommissioning requires specialized handling, and we provide turnkey services for battery removal, including controlled discharge, system shutdown, fire-safety deactivation, and removal of lithium-ion components, all managed by trained technicians and approved recycling partners.
The team completed the full decommissioning of an aging solar array. We began with a site assessment and electrical shutdown. The system was dismantled module by module, with additional care taken for legacy equipment installed under older standards. Most importantly, the project was completed without disrupting the property owner.
All recyclable materials were processed through certified Texas facilities, leaving the site clean and ready for future use; demonstrating our commitment to responsible end-of-life solar management.
Assessment, utility coordination, NEC compliance checks, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
System disconnected from service panels and backfeed breakers with zero-voltage conditions verified.
Solar panels were removed, inspected for damage, and sorted by recyclable and non-recyclable materials.
Rails disassembled, ground screws or posts removed, and corroded components addressed.
Wiring pulled; combiner boxes, disconnects, inverters, and grounding systems removed.
Aluminum, steel, copper, and glass were transported to certified recycling partners in Texas.
Property cleaned, post holes filled, grade smoothed, and land restored to original condition.
